Nong Paweena Lewjang
14 years old, grade 7 Nong Paween is 14, she is originally from Chiang Mai. Her mum is Burmese and her dad belongs to the Liso hill tribe, unfortunately they separated when she was 5 years old and was given in custody to her dad. Paweena does not have any identity card nor is recognized a citizen by Thailand. Not being able to afford any other school, or to provide Paweena with food and shelf, her dad sent Paweena and her brother were to the Buddha Kasetra school since they were 6 years old. She is now in grade 7. “I have lot of friends here and they are very kind. I also help the school at the library. In the future I want to be a teacher and want to live with my dad in Chiang Mai” |
Nong Jirapa Boonchotongjit
14 years old, grade 7 “My family is very poor, my parents cannot afford my education, that is why they enrolled me here... At this school I have learned a lot and have many friends! I really love it” |
Nong Narut Thanomwarakul
15 years old, grade 8 “My dad is a farmer, he sent me to study here and I really like it. They teach me skills that are useful for my real life and they prepare me for the work. When I grow older, I want to be a farmer like my parents and I want to carry on helping them with our land and our farm”. |

Mrs Anchal ee Langpamun
Manager of the Buddha Kasetra School (BKS) Khun Yoam, Mae Hong Sorn 58140 Tel. : 053-622-190 Email: [email protected] Graduated from Faculty of Education, Chiang Mai University, Mrs Anchalee (Khun Anchalee in Thai) joined the Buddha Kasetra School 22 years ago, first as a volunteer teacher, and eventually, as school director. She is dedicating all her life to the school and kids, and saw the institute and the kids growing bigger. When it opened, the school only had 20 kids, not much land and therefore no possibility of growing food. They moved a long way until now. Khun Anchalee continues to proactively look for the funds needed to carry on her important work. She believes that every kid in this world deserves to get an education and she is helping them never giving up. |
Mr Wanlop Suwanampa
Principal of the Buddha Kasettra School Khun Wanlop joined the school 20 year ago as a science teacher. He is still happily dedicating his time to these kids, and in addition to taking care of the school and the kids activities he is also in charge of the organic garden project. Very recently he also became the principal of the school. |
